Robert J. Harris Papers [manuscript], 1938-1968.

Professional and personal papers of Robert J. Harris, Professor of Government and Foreign Affairs, including correspondence with Hubert H. Humphrey, John F. Kennedy and Edward Corwin. The letters between Harris and Edward S. Corwin contain an exchange of commentary on constitutional issues, political and world events, activities of colleagues and friends, and personal family matters. The letters exchanged with Hubert Humphrey are primarily congratulatory messages, acknowledgements of campaign support, reminiscences of past associations, and informal comments on political matters. They cover the periods during which Humphrey served as Mayor of Minneapolis, Senator from Minnesota, and Vice-President of the United States. John F. Kennedy correspondence relates to Senate committee work and includes a letter of inquiry about presidential powers under the constitution. The collection also contains reprints of Corwin's publications, newsclippings and a letter concerning the resignation of James M. Buchanan from the University faculty, and a framed photograph of the McGuffey Ash.
